Please circulate this email to those who might be interested.

ELIXIR-IIB, in collaboration with the University of Bari, Italy, and the
support of IBIOM-CNR and IIT,

is pleased to announce the upcoming “Training course in computational
methods for epitranscriptomics”.

*IMPORTANT DATES:*

Deadline for applications: 15 April 2023
Course date: 26-28 April 2023
Acceptance will be notified soon after the registration deadline

Course selection will be done according to the needs for the course as
emerging from the application form.

Priority will be given to candidates from ELIXIR-IT member institutions
(see the list <https://elixir-italy.org/about/members/>) and ELIXIR nodes.

*VENUE:*

Area della Ricerca del CNR di Bari

Via Amendola 122/o, 70126 Bari, Italy

*COURSE DESCRIPTION:*

The aim of the course is to provide a foundation on experimental planning,
analytical strategies, and computational approaches for using RNAseq and
Nanopore direct RNA sequencing to profile RNA modifications. Participants
will learn the fundamental concepts and bioinformatics skills needed for
epitranscriptome analysis, and acquire specific skills in command-line
tools for calling, annotating and filtering RNA variants. The course also
covers theoretical aspects of RNA editing and practical sessions focused on
its detection in human/mouse transcriptomes using Illumina RNAseq data.

*COURSE TOPICS:*
- Theoretical aspects of Nanopore direct RNA sequencing to profile RNA
modifications;

- Hands on bioinformatics tools for the analysis of Nanopore direct RNA
sequencing data;

- Theoretical aspects of computational methods to detect RNA editing in
human/mouse transcriptomes using Illumina RNAseq data.

- Hands on bioinformatics tools for calling, annotating and filtering RNA
editing events.
