ELIXIR-IT is pleased to announce the new edition of the "MedILS School in
Bioinformatics"

The School is divided into two parts. You can join only one part or for
both parts, depending on the research interests.
Part I: 21 - 25 August 2023
Part II: 16 - 20 October 2023

The Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences – MedILS is a life science
institute in Split, Croatia, envisioned as an international center of

Part I:
Registration fee with accommodation at MedILS: EUR 800
Registration fee without accommodation at MedILS: EUR 500

Part II:
Registration fee with accommodation at MedILS: EUR 830

COURSE DESCRIPTION
We invite participants enthusiastic about science, new technologies,
biology, big data analysis, and those curious to learn new things. The
School will introduce participants to the latest advances in omics
technologies and most commonly used bioinformatics tools and methods to
analyse big data. Hands-on sessions will give participants the opportunity
to reinforce the analysis concepts they learned in smaller groups based on
their field of interest. The participants will also have a chance to get
advice related to their own research questions. This School is intended for
individuals working in life/biomedical sciences with little or none
experience in bioinformatics.

Topics:

Protein structure analysis, drug design and virtual screening
MS proteomics and metabolomics
Next-generation sequencing and data repositories
GWAS
Pharmacogenomics
Transcriptomics
Epigenomics
Microbiome
Introduction to data analysis and data visualization (R, Galaxy, PyMOL,
PyMod)

This year, the School will be divided in two parts - first one will be more
focused on protein analysis, while the second one will be more oriented
towards analysis of nucleic acids. Both parts will have an integrated
section about the basic and advanced methods for data analysis and data
visualization. There will be an option to apply for only one part or for
both parts, depending on the research interests.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The School will welcome 20 – 30 participants (young researchers – master
students, PhD students, postdocs; but experienced researchers are also
welcome!). No prior computational experience is required.
