SPECIAL SESSION PROPOSALS In addition to the main track, the conference will provide a number of special sessions focused on specific scientific subjects. Special sessions focus on a specific, possibly cutting-edge topic of interest for the CIBB audience. Special session organisers will be responsible for disseminating their call for papers, managing the reviewing process, and chairing the oral presentations for their session. A special session should have at least 4 accepted papers (oral presentations) and might have a proposed invited speaker. Feel free to check the special sessions of the past editions of CIBB to get a sense of what is expected. Special session proposals should include i) the session's title, ii) its scope, and iii) a short biography of the session chairs. The special session organisers may propose an invited speaker. To do so, the organisers should also submit a short bio of the speaker and a selection of their most relevant publications about CIBB-related topics. Invited speaker submissions will then be evaluated by the CIBB chairs. Reimbursement of travel expenses for the special session speakers will not be provided by CIBB. An approved special session can happen if it has at least 4 short papers accepted; otherwise, the accepted papers will be included in the conference main track. Special session proposals should be sent via email to the conference chairs at cibb2023 a dei.unipd.it. The submission of the special session proposals is currently open and the deadline for proposal submission is 19 February 2023. ----------------------------------------- Roberto Tagliaferri Professor Director of the PhD School in Big Data Management and in Data Science, Accounting & Management DISA MIS, University of Salerno IEEE and INNS Senior Member http://www.unisa.it/docenti/robertotagliaferri/index Associate Editor of: BMC Bioinformatics, https://bmcbioinformatics.biomedcentral.com/ IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, http://www.ieeesmc.org/publications/transactions-on-cybernetics Journal of Translational Medicine, https://translational-medicine.biomedcentral.com/ -------------- parte successiva -------------- Un allegato HTML è stato rimosso... I am happy to announce the 2023 edition of the "Como School on Cancer Evolution". More information below. Call for Participation Lake Como Workshop and School on Cancer Evolution 2023 ====================================================== May 23 - May 26, 2023 Villa del Grumello - via per Cernobbio, 11 - 22100 Como, ITALY Website http://csce2023.lakecomoschool.org --------------------------------------------------------------- Cancer is a multi-factorial disease caused by the malfunction of the bio-molecular machinery that regulates the body's "checks and balances". This leads to the uncontrolled growth of certain cell subpopulations selected by evolutionary pressure, which ultimately threatens the host?s survival. In the last 15 years, countless algorithmic, statistical, and mathematical modelling strategies have greatly aided in understanding the disease?s intricacies, especially by leveraging the vast and increasing amounts of omics data generated from cancer samples. Importantly, new experimental paradigms, such as those on patient-derived models are delivering the first exciting results. In this lively field, the **Como School on Cancer Evolution** (CSCE 2023) brings together researchers from both dry- and wet-labs to explore the challenges posed by cancer as a an evolutionary disease. The School will allow the participants to gain expertise on state-of-the-art concepts, methods and applications from both cancer biology and computational sciences, especially data science and artificial intelligence, and to get a glimpse into the vision of pioneers in the field of cancer evolution. Participants are encouraged to present their work in two presentation sessions that will be held during the workshop. Finally, all the attendees will receive a certificate of completion of the School. We currently have a postdoc opening on the project ?Computational metagenomic analyses for Fish and food quality and origin assessment.? The project is about the application of metagenomic and genomic data for the development of tools to evaluate the quality of food, with particular reference to the fish in relation to the accumulation of pollutants (such as: bioplastics, antibiotics and other xenobiotics), and origin focusing on use of data generated by second and third generation sequencers. Given the centrality of the analysis of massively generated sequences, a strong background in computational biology is required on the part of the candidate. The multidisciplinary vocation of the Microbiology laboratory is particularly suitable for projects of this type, also boasting numerous publications and funded projects on similar topics. The candidate will therefore have to deal with the computational biology part related to the carrying out of both projects, working mainly on ad-hoc generated sequences and using clustering and classification algorithms and have a background in biostatistics and Computer sciences. The position is Fish_eu Trust H2020 Eu-grant. The position is a one year position that can be renewed up to 3 years. Unfortunately the deadline is very near, January 22, in 5 days.
